Take a look at some of the student created earth day video projects posted online. You're going to create a response to the Whole Foods video that is posted at the previous link. Or, you may also create a response video or one of your own unique videos that we can share this month about Earth Day. We are working with teachers and students all across the world on a 24 hour, live webcast project that will take place on Earth Day 2008 (April 22nd, 2008). It would be great to include some of your videos in this project.

Possible topics (click any links for examples):

Environmental Sustainability - Outstanding video created by Lindsea at Punahoschool in Hawaii
Recycling
Litter control
Clean Energy
Plastic Bags
Lighting
Air Pollution
Water Pollution
Electric Cars (check out the Tesla, an all electric sports car) - take a look at the look at the unveiling of the Tesla video on YouTube.

Everyone can make little changes that can positively affect the world that we live in. Create a video that helps raise awareness and gives some possible solutions to some of these challenges.

Feel free to use "Creative Commons" photos from flickr, and royalty free sound track using Garageband or CCmixter. You may NOT use photos from a google image search. Likewise, you may NOT use any copyright protected music that you've purchased ether online or in music stores.

Use the following resources:
For Music:
  • You may NOT use music that you've purchased online or on CDs.
  • Create your own using Garageband
  • CCmixter
  • Free Music Project
  • Jamendo - this site has some really nice Creative Commons licenses music.
  • MySpace Music-You won't be able to search this at school, but you can search myspace bands at home. Many of the bands on myspace give you permission to download and use their music for free, just like the artists at CCmixter and Free Music Project.
For Images:
  • Google images may NOT be used for this project. Why, you might ask? Because it is likely that we have little information about the copyright restrictions on the work. Therefore, we're only going to use images from the Creative Comments.
  • Creative Commons images from Flickr. You'll go to Flickr and do an advanced search for images. After choosing the advanced search option, you'll scroll down a bit and choose Creative Commons and check the two options underneath this option.

Please do the following:
  • Pick a topic
  • Create a script in google docs with your partners - be sure to collaborate the document amongst your project team AND me
  • Create a storyboard
  • Shoot some of your own original video-
    • remember the good camera techniques that we've talked about-keep the camera steady, no zooming, try not to pan too much, etc.
  • Create a credit slide where you give credit to the person who created the images and sounds.
